JOIN THE MOVEMENT
The sunrise movement
The Sunrise Movement is an organization created by youths concerned about the looming existential threat of climate change with the original goal of raising awareness for and passing the Green New Deal. Since its inception in 2017, they have grown to become a national presence with big name partnerships such as Alexandra Ocasio-Cortez and expanded goals including American job growth through environmental policies. They gained fame for staging a sit-in at Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi's office to discuss the Green New Deal with her. They organize events to raise awareness, endorse candidates, and take steps to urge our legislators to pass comprehensive climate legislation.
JOIN THE MOVEMENT
the Sierra Club
Founded in 1892, the Sierra Club's original members, including John Muir, were focused on conserving California's Sierra Nevada mountains. Over time, however, they have expanded their goals to protect all of the world's ecosystems and ensuring that everyone has access to clean air, clean water, and a healthy environment. They focus on climate solutions through activism and political influence, working with politicians, partner organizations, and their 3.8 million members to try to achieve a sustainable society to conserve our planet's natural beauty.
JOIN THE MOVEMENT
Clean air task force
The Clean Air Task Force is an American NGO founded in 1996 with the goal of reducing air pollution. It has led multiple successful campaigns to reduce pollution caused by American coal-fired power plants, helped limit the CO2 emissions of the US power sector, and helped create new regulations of diesel, shipping, and methane emissions.
JOIN THE MOVEMENT
Climate emergency fund
The Climate Emergency Fund is a younger organization with the goal of quickly getting money to groups engaged in climate protest through grants. The grantees range from the well-established 350.org to the fledgling Extinction Rebellion, an activist movement that uses nonviolent civil disobedience — like filling the streets and blocking intersections — to demand governments do more to stave off mass extinction.
